1-day workshop on incorporating health inequality concerns into cost effectiveness analysis

Monday 12th March 2012

Centre for Health Economics, University of York

A workshop to refine a proposed analytical framework for incorporating concerns about health inequality into cost effectiveness analysis.  Key issues for discussion include the applicability of methods from the income distribution literature to evaluating health distributions, the incorporation of insights from the literatures on the determinants of health and equality of opportunity for health in order to help distinguish fair from unfair health inequality, and the challenges of applying the framework in practice given limited evidence on the distribution of health effects.

The aims of the workshop are:

  • to refine the framework
  • to ensure the framework meets the needs of analysts and decision makers
  • to identify case study topics for the next phase of this research project
