This professional programme is designed to provide a focus for on the importance of Marketing in the development of the Fair Trade sector. The course will critically appraise the structure of the fair trade market and the different approaches to marketing fair trade products and campaigns. The course takes an applied approach looking at the application of ethical and social marketing to fair trade branding and campaigning. In addition, the course will evaluate the role of marketing communications including, social media, public relations and network marketing to fair trade products, campaigns and organisations.
Dr Bob Doherty, Professor of Marketing at the University of York’s Management School. Former Head of Sales and Marketing at Divine Chocolate Ltd and the current Chair of the Liverpool Fairtrade Town Steering Committee.
Bob is the author and co-author of a number of published journal articles and book chapters on fair trade including, the Rise and Stall of a Fair Trade Pioneer and ‘From Critique to Action: The Practical Ethics of the Organisational World’, Chapter 5 The Growth of Fair Trade in the UK.
