Dr Ning Xue



Ning joined the School for Business and Society in 2021. She previously held a position as a lecturer in the Department of Economics and Related Studies. She obtained her PhD in Economics from the University of Manchester in 2018. She holds an MSc in Economics, an MSc in International Trade and a BSc in International Economics and Trade. Her research areas include Macroeconomics, Public Economics, Growth and Development, and Political Economy. 



Ning’s research focuses  primarily on the areas of macroeconomics and public economics. Her research examines public policy choices and their implications for economic growth and inequality within a political economy framework. Currently, she is working on the relationship between preference for redistribution and inequality. She is also studying how public investment and welfare spending are determined in different political systems.
