Posted on 1 June 2017

Jenny Purcell is nominated in 2 categories which are for her work in the Biology Department

The Centre for Infection & Immunology is delighted to find out that Jenny Purcell, a Biology PA has reached the final for not only one but two categories in this year's Yorkshire PA of The Year Awards.

Jenny is a finalist for "Best Social Media PA" and "Best Organised Event".

Jenny says: "I am delighted to reach the final for Best Social Media PA for all my online and digital work here. This award will recognise my efforts using online platforms in fresh & innovative ways.
I am keeping everything crossed for Best Organised Event. I worked really hard to create a great Green Impact week with the Biology Environmental Performance Group for the Department. The aim of our event was to encourage staff & students to adopt habits and policies that can reduce their carbon footprint so that we can build a more sustainable future for the University."

The Yorkshire PA of the Year Awards are run by The PA Hub Organisation. Founder Marion Lawrence says: “We are honoured to be joined by such a high profile and notable panel of judges in our search to recognise Yorkshire talent. It’s a great opportunity to really put Yorkshire in the limelight across the industry, which for too long, has been overlooked in its fundamental role in business.

Assistants are relied upon daily, not only to ensure the seamless organisation of the managers and teams they support, but also in the development of the business. An Assistant needs to be one step ahead of the person they support, knowing how to resolve issues, how to cover various workloads, and essentially making decisions on what their Executive would do next, in situations where they are not present.

Assistants move and organise in the background, but the role they play for their Executives and teams is very much at the forefront of modern day business, and it is an honour to be able to recognise and award this talent across the Yorkshire region.”

Social Media is improving at a rapid pace meaning companies are now using these tools in their day to day marketing strategies. PAs are using social media as platforms to communicate between businesses, organisations and their PA communities and The PA Hub want to find those who are excelling in this area. This category will showcase those PAs who have embraced social media into their roles and/or are interactive on a personal basis to communicate with other PAs around the PA industry.

Best Organised event is a highly sort award. The nominee for this category will have excellent organisational skills enabling them to produce and deliver an outstanding event; be that a board meeting, an away day, gala dinner or a full-on conference. The nominee will have timing and co-ordination attributes, the ability to communicate and work with all levels of staff involved which is essential to deliver that special event.

The final will take place on Thursday 22nd June at Leeds United Football Ground. Tickets can be purchased here
