Award for Glycan PhD student

Posted on 3 April 2014

PhD student Katie Wilson has won the Buchanan Award.

The Buchanan Award is for the best talk given at the RSC Young Carbohydrate Symposium.  Katie talked about her work in the groups of Dani Ungar and Paul Genever concerning the role of glycosylation in the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into bone.  As part of her work, Katie has characterized the changes in glycans during differentiation, and has been able to alter the differentiation potential of cells by disrupting glycosylation.  As part of her award Katie will present her results in a 30 minute talk at the RSC Annual Carbohydrate Symposium in Bath.
