Disability Support

Disability Services at the University of York coordinate Disability Support in liaison with the Department and the University Examinations Office.

Commonly accessed support includes:

  1. Special exam arrangements such as extra time, provision of computers and exam paper on colored paper
  2. Study Skills support
  3. Note-takers and mentoring support
  4. Advice on appropriate accommodation
  5. Library support and provision of extended loans
  6. Special equipment, software and computers

All exam arrangements and disability support is put into place at the recommendation of Disability Services. The Department is unable to make any special or alternative exam arrangements without an assessment and recommendation from Disability Services.  Students requiring support must therefore make contact with Disability Services. If you are not sure whether you can access support or how to approach Disability Services we encourage you to seek advice from your academic supervisor, the Departmental Disability Officer, Antje Kuhrs or Biology Student Services.
