Mature and Commuter Students

Our students come from a range of backgrounds, ages and locations. If you are over the age of 21 when you start your studies, you are classed as a mature student. A lot of local students also choose to commute to University due to personal reasons and family commitments.

The Department of Biology has Mature and Commuter student representatives who attend the BioEDG Committee (Biology Equality and Diversity Group). Additionally, informal events such as "Coffee and Cake" events are held within the Department for both staff and students. During 2020 these events have moved online.

Upcoming events include:

Invites will be available in the staff / student newsletters

Mature and Commuter Student Representatives can be contacted through the Biology Engagement team at biol-engagement@york.ac.uk.

The University runs a lot of events centrally for Mature and Commuter students throughout the year, see the links below.
