In this 90 minute workshop, Jay Seldon shares their experience working as a technician. Jay is a TFTI Writing Directing Performance graduate and now Technical Manager of Ricochet Theatre, a company who produce new writing. Come and learn from someone who has done your course and is here to share their experience of taking their first steps into industry and their career.

This is a practical workshop and will include:

  • Practical introduction to lighting software ​​(types of fixtures/plugging up fixtures with power and data/addressing and patching fixtures/building a lighting state (e.g. colour, intensity, effects)

  • Discussion and knowledge sharing about how to get started as a technician (what to expect/interpreting tour riders (with examples)/receiving visiting companies/working as part of a large organisation

About Ricochet Theatre

Ricochet Theatre is a fledgling theatre company founded by recent York University theatre graduates with a shared passion for new works. They play with stories told in unique ways, drawing on the political and environmental situations our generation is facing today. They are a low budget but big imagination company scattered all over the country conducting rehearsals both remotely on zoom and in their living rooms in person. Ricochet Theatre is proudly supported by the York Performance Award.
