Event details

Witness is a Crime Drama, set within a Police Station. Detectives, Jean and Michael, try to piece together the events that led to a Professor’s grizzly death and embark on a journey through the investigation, from a chat with a bystander to a conversation with the killer.

In March 2022, at the University of York, seven students produced three episodes of their Studio TV Crime Drama: Witness. Witness builds upon many of the conventions of the genre and sets itself apart by limiting the audience to two locations, forcing them to listen very carefully to the testimonies of the characters they meet throughout the series. Are they the killer? Will they slip up and reveal too much? Audiences will be on the edge of their seat, shushing the people next to them, leaning in to catch the meaning behind the conversation across the interrogation room’s table.

The show’s debut will take place on the 28th April, at the University of York, within the very room where the students had all their lectures for the last three years.

The event will begin at 4:30pm in the departmental foyer where refreshments will be available. The screening will begin at 5:00pm followed by a Q+A, then drinks & nibbles.
