The Themes modules allow students to begin to engage in more detail with four time periods within either Prehistory or the Historical era. The modules are not intended to provide a comprehensive coverage of these time periods, but instead give students the opportunity to dip in and out of periods in order to explore key themes which will run throughout the module. Each week a different theme will be detailed in a lecture, and then students will be able to discuss this in much more detail in a seminar, where general issues can be raised, student presentations will be given, and further debate can be had. The various themes will come up repeatedly in the four parts of the module.
All students registered for the BA in Historical Archaeology and BA Archaeology/History combined must take "Themes in Historical Archaeology", but students registered on the other degree programmes may choose their Themes module dependent on their time-period interests.
