Krista McGrath

Laboratory Technician


Krista is the laboratory technician in BioArCh specializing in aDNA. She holds a Bachelor's in Biology and Anthropology from the University of Western Ontario (Canada) and a Master's in Archaeology from Simon Fraser University (Canada) focusing on ancient DNA degradation.

Krista came to York to take up the post of CodeX technician working with Matthew Collins and specializing in ZooMS analysis

Prior to taking up the post at York Krista was a chemical regulatory consultant in Canada.


Krista is working with Dr Camilla Speller and other researchers and students in BioArCh on a number of research projects covering archaeological material from a diverse range of species including turkeys, whales and humans. She is also an experienced ZooMS technician.
