Jo Tozer

Research Manager

Jo provides administrative support for the development, submission and smooth running of externally funded research grants across the department. She is also the department's Impact Officer, supporting staff to demonstrate and promote the wider influence and benefits of their research to society beyond the university.

Main responsibilities

  • Horizon scanning for future research funding opportunities
  • Explaining and clarifying funder guidelines and liaison with staff in the Research Grants & Contracts team
  • Preparation of pFACT costings
  • Support and assistance in preparing impact statements in grant proposals
  • Arrangement of internal peer-review of grant applications
  • Post-award grant management support including financial reporting and recruitment of research staff
  • Management of research studentships
  • PURE and York Research Database support
  • Maintenance of the Department's Research and Impact web pages
  • Member of the Arts & Humanities External Engagement Group
  • Secretary to the Departmental Research Committee
