Credits


The Tarbat Discovery Programme is an archaeological research project designed to study the 6th-9th century monastery at Portmahomack, Easter Ross and to explore its context on the Tarbat peninsula and within the kingdom of the northern Picts. It is a project of the Department of Archaeology, University of York, UK. The fieldwork is being carried out by Field Archaeology Specialists Ltd who act as the University's principal contractor.

Sponsorship

The Research Programme has been sponsored by Tarbat Historic Trust, Ross and Cromarty District Council, Ross and Cromarty Enterprise, Highland Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the University of York. Its results are presented at the Tarbat Discovery Centre, a Museum and Visitor Centre which has been created at Tarbat Old Church by the Tarbat Historic Trust, in partnership with the University and Highland Council. The University is very grateful for the support and hospitality of the people of Portmahomack, particularly James and Douglas Gordon, Billy Vass, Caroline Shepherd-Barron and all the members and supporters of Tarbat Historic Trust.
