Profile

Biography

My current research is focused on the study of past pastoralism activities in European mountain areas. I am particularly interested in animal mobility and variability of husbandry strategies along a large altitudinal gradients between costal and upland area, though the faunal remains analyses.

During my doctoral research I employed a range of different techniques in order to determine the exploitation of animal resources (milk, meat, fleece), the altitudinal mobility, the seasonnal stress and birth seasonality of sheep including, osteoarcheological analyses, mortality profiles, enamel hypoplasia analyses and enamel stable isotope analyses (C and O).

From 2013 to 2017, Zooarcheology PhD of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle (MNHN) of Paris (France) supervised by Jean-Denis Vigne and Marie Balasse. Dissertation: “Bronze Age herding and management system in the Midi of France and Catalonia: archaeozoological analysis and isotopic approach."

From 2011 to 2012, MSc, Quaternary and Prehistory MNHN, supervised by Jean-Denis Vigne and Stéphanie Bréhard. Dissertation: “Herding Adaptation to mountain environment during the Bronze Age: zooarcheological approach of the settlement Llo (Cerdanya).”

Projects

The AHRC-funded project, Protohistoric to Medieval pastoralism in the Western Alps: The origins and development of long-distance transhumance, aims to study the development of long-distance pastoral transhumance (the management and movement of animals between lowland to high altitude pasture) in the Western Alps, from the Iron Age to the Medieval Period.
