Dan Brock

Profile

As the department's Digital Archaeology Technician, Dan specialises in the application of digital techniques to enhance teachning and research, but also takes a thematic interest in human mobility, connectivity, and sustainability. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Dan fulfils the role of Departmental Computing Officer and manages the department's IT assets, specialist digital equipment, and software.

Dan obtained a BA in Ancient History and Archaeology from the University of Exeter, working on a number of excavations and geophysics projects before graduating and taking a position as a technician at Exeter's Digital Humanities Lab. Dan then went on to complete an MSc in Geographical Information Science from the School of GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh. Following this, he worked in commercial archaeology before joining the University of York at the beginning of 2022.
