At a ceremony in Heslington Hall, lecturers Dr Camilla Speller and Dr Andre Colonese were recently awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP). This is an important award that recognises ability and experience in teaching, administration, and pastoral care, as well as an engagement with pedagogic theory and research, and innovation in learning technologies. Congratulations to Andre and Camilla for completing this demanding programme of work alongside all their existing teaching, research and academic responsbilities: no small achievement!
We are delighted that so many of our staff now hold PGCAP awards, which also offer them fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. We are committed to continually improving learning and teaching in the department, and to using that experience to influence practice across and beyond the university. Staff continue to train and develop throughout their time here, and Steve Ashby (also a supervisor and examiner on the PGCAP programme) was among the university's first cohort to be complete the York Professional and Academic Development (Y-PAD) scheme, and is now a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Congratulations everybody. We look forward to more new PGCAP graduates in the coming years.
