A PhD student from York has been awarded the "Orgullo de mi País" award, for his work to champion Pre-Hispanic Nicaraguan heritage.
Paul Edward Mongomery, whose research interests include public archaeology, indigenous archaeologies and heritage, and the representation of marginalized cultures, picked up the award at the Nicaraguan Embassy in London, on behalf of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity.
The "Orgullo de mi País" was presented to Paul Edward for his outstanding research on Gran Nicoya and his contribution to the study and international recognition of the pre-Hispanic, historical, anthropological, archaeological and cultural heritage of Nicaragua.
