Steve Ashby wins Mick Aston Photography Prize

York lecturer wins inaugural prize for image of altar

A senior lecturer from the Department of Archaeology has won an award for archaeological photography.

Steve Ashby was recently awarded the Society for Medieval Archaeology's first Mick Aston Photography prize, for his image of the altar in the 11th-century crypt at Lastingham Church. The competition's theme was "religion".
