Penny Spikins' new book, How Compassion Made Us Human, which will be published at the end of March, has already attracted media interest. Penny argues that interpersonal emotions played a key role in our human evolutionary story, only later leading on to changes in intelligence or analytical thinking. She discusses how preconceptions of what we think our ancestors ought to have been like have influenced interpretations and writes a new story of human origins, with compassion at its core. Chloe Brown has drawn the cover illustration, and Penny herself the many illustrations within the volume. Look out for the book on the store shelves soon!
