Promotions success

The Archaeology Department is pleased to announce a rich crop of promotions.

Congratulations are extended to:

Dr Julian Richards

promoted to a personal chair with effect from January 2005 for his major contributions to Viking archaeology and to the use of information systems in archaeology.

Dr Laurajane Smith

whose 'stunning' book we have already trailed, and who is promoted to a senior lectureship for her central international role in the development of archaeological heritage management as a new discipline.

Dr Allan Hall

whose work over a quarter of a century on the study and interpretation of archaeological plant macrofossil assemblages is finally rewarded with a move up the research grade ladder to RAII.
