This talk will discuss the role of the ancient past in the construction of identities that either are connected or break from supranational polities such as the European Union. Drawing on extensive empirical research and a mix of quantitative and qualitative analysis, it will explore the interlinking between the concept of trust - neutrally understood - expertise, heritage and contemporary sentiments about Brexit.
