Spain and Portugal-

We have been collaborating with Dr Lydia Zapata Pena, Prof Juan J. Ibáñez and Prof Jesús E. González-Urquijo on some sites in the Basque country. Seasonality analysis has been undertaken on oysters from the cave site of Pico Ramos. It is a small thin cave with a Chalcolithic cemetery. Below this layer a shell midden was found which dates to 5860+/- 65 BP uncalibrated. Further work is being carried out on marine and terrestrial molluscs from the site of Kobaederra cave.

The midden sites in the Muge valley have also been visited several times and work carried out in collaboration with Dr José Rolao.
