Ireland -

For the last couple of years Nicky has been working with Professor Peter Woodman in Ireland. Seasonality studies are being carried out on molluscs from Glendhu, Rockmarshall and Baylet. Survey and excavations have also been carried in Co. Donegal.

William Harte discovered a number of middens in Donegal in 1867 but they were largely forgotten until recently when Brian McNaught and Tommy Gallagher rediscovered them and saw that serious erosion was taking place. A survey was carried out for DUCHAS in 2001 and excavations at Baylet followed in 2002 and 2003.
