Grade 3

At Grade 3 you are likely to be:

  • Setting up and installing managed hardware and software
  • Providing first line support for managed hardware and software: trouble-shooting problems, carrying out simple repairs/patches; escalating complex issues; highlighting and reporting recurring problems to managers
  • Removing and securely disposing of life-expired devices
  • Providing first line support of unmanaged devices (eg iPads)
  • Assisting with student laptop support according to agreed service levels
  • Carrying out stock control on consumables, receiving goods and preparing for dispatch
  • Compiling equipment booking requests, processing request forms, ensuring that all equipment is working and ready for use and checking in equipment on return
  • Working with the DCO and on your own initiative to ensure the department’s IT systems are patched, maintained and kept in a state of readiness and good repair
  • Providing audio visual support and advice and setting up sound/video equipment
  • Carrying out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) of electrical equipment and cables; reporting/ removing/ repairing faulty equipment
  • Undertaking proactive monitoring of systems to identify issues before they affect users
  • Providing basic training in using devices particularly printers and multi-function devices
