Grade 2 role

At Grade 2 you are likely to be:

  • Responding to faults, and identifying whether they can be resolved or a contract engineer should be called
  • Placing calls to maintenance contractors and directing them on arrival at the campus
  • Clearing paper jams and resupplying paper stocks in printer trays
  • Replacing toner cartridges
  • Checking for errors with IT equipment and escalating to colleagues where necessary
  • Receiving and dealing with deliveries of IT equipment or consumables
  • Assisting with computer installation in offices and classrooms
  • Monitoring PCs for hardware and software problems, fixing minor problems, reporting problems and maintaining the PCs
  • Monitoring and maintaining departmental printers and photocopiers, liaising with (external) maintenance personnel as necessary
  • Assisting in the control of consumables in the department, including ordering items when necessary
  • Assisting in the loaning of departmental equipment to staff
  • Liaising closely with the IT Support Office to ensure consistent and appropriate advice is provided to customers in the event of printing service issues
