Kronos is a time and attendance system that helps manage timecards and wages more effectively.

What the system does

  • Tracks employee time, attendance and activity
  • Provides an audit record of the number of hours worked by employees
  • Monitors overtime and TOIL (in progress)
  • Records employee leave (including holiday and sickness)
  • Manages employee schedules and shift allocations
  • Records employee exceptions eg. lateness, non-attendance
  • Enforces policy and contractual requirements

Who has access to Kronos

The system is predominantly used within the Directorate of Estates and Campus Services (DECS), York Commercial Limited (YCL) and Security.

Access is automatically granted to new employees within the relevant business areas. Line managers should provide employees with the relevant login information on their first day of work.

Supervisor and manager access is granted on request to the relevant system administrator.

Employee queries

For all employee queries, eg changes to schedules etc please contact the relevant department administrator.

System configuration change requests

These should be raised by the department administrators to the system owners who will then review the requested changes.
