Join us on 8 June for the launch of brand new career resources for professional support staff
We want to support you to learn, develop and grow your career at the University of York. We want to empower you to make your own career decisions and help you discover more options for your career journey.
Join the People and Organisational Development (POD) team as we launch the new career development web resources specifically designed for professional support colleagues.
Our recently created job templates provide a clear framework of the skills and behaviours needed at each grade. The new career resources will help you to reflect on what skills and behaviours you already have and which ones you'd like to develop so you can enhance your potential to progress between different roles and grades.
At the launch we will give you a tour of the new materials and advise you on how to make the best use of them. Sections include:
- Understand yourself
- Drive your development
- Shine in a selection process
- Support the development of others
There will also be the opportunity to ask questions about the resources in a dedicated Q and A section.

All staff are welcome to attend, but the materials are particularly relevant if you are working in a professional support role (whether in central services or within departments / schools). It will also be helpful if you manage professional support colleagues and want to know how to support them with their career development aspirations.
