New rate to be implemented on 1 April 2022

The University became an Accredited real Living Wage employer in 2021. To support our continued commitment we will be making some changes to the University's pay structure to reflect the most recent uplift announced by the Living Wage Foundation.

The new real Living Wage rate is £9.90 per hour but the University will be applying a new minimum rate of £9.96 (spine point 9 on the National Pay Spine) with effect from 1 April 2022.

We have worked closely with our Trade Union colleagues to agree to these changes that will affect colleagues in grades 1-3.

Some colleagues will see an increase in salary while others will have an increased earning potential from future increments. Find out further details on these changes, which will take effect from 1 April 2022. Colleagues affected will receive a letter to their home address with details of what these changes mean for them.

Where Casual, Apprentice, Intern and Temp Pool rates fall below the real Living Wage, these will also be uplifted with effect from 1 April 2022.
