Key dates for payroll and recruitment activity

The HR Services and Compliance Team will be working until Friday 17 December 2021. Please continue to provide us with all employee changes, requests to recruit and direct appointments as soon as possible. Please be advised of the following deadlines:


7 December 2021 is the payroll deadline for all employee changes and new starters for December 2021. Requests received after this date will not be processed until January 2022.

We will need to receive completed acceptance forms from new starters prior to 7 December if we are to ensure that their records are set up in time for them to be paid in December.

Please remember that contract variations and direct appointments require all the necessary approvals to be in place before we can process them.


As the office will be closed between 17 December and 4 January, there will not be anyone available to handle queries or issues raised by applicants/candidates. With that in mind, we recommend that vacancies do not have a closing date during the winter break, any roles that will be live over the break should close no earlier than 7 January 2022.

We encourage you to submit your vacancy request forms as early as possible ahead of the break. With our current lead times we, unfortunately, cannot guarantee that any vacancies approved after 3 December 2021 will be made live before the Christmas close down. However, we will ensure priority is given to those roles that impact on teaching and/or research.

If you would like to delay advertising until the new year please add a note to the vacancy request form.

We will continue to arrange interviews for the week commencing 13 December. However, we will not be able to issue contracts of employment prior to the Christmas break unless we receive the offer of appointment form prior to 14 December 2021.
