Facilities on campus

There are a number of places on or around campus which you might find helpful.

• The numerous campus cafes and bars offer a wide range of food and drink. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options are available.


You'll find places to eat across campus

• Market Square on Campus West has a small supermarket, a bank (Santander) and a hairdresser
• Heslington village has a sandwich shop/general store, a post office and two pubs. There are also two banks (Barclays and NatWest)
• There is also a small supermarket at Halifax College
• York Science Park has its own cafe, Park Central
• Cash machines can be found at Market Square, the Student Centre, Heslington village, Halifax College and the Glasshouse on Campus East
• There is a GP’s surgery on Campus East (Unity Health's Kimberlow Hill Surgery, registered patients only)
• York Sports Village (on Campus East) and York Sport Centre (Campus West) offer a range of sport, health and fitness facilities, services and programmes, including exercise classes, gym equipment, cycling, swimming and racquet sport facilities and artificial pitches. • You also have access to prayer facilities, breastfeeding and baby changing facilities and rooms with a hearing loop that have been tested and by members of staff. More information on these facilities are available on the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion webpage.
