One Planet Living
If everyone on the planet consumed the same natural resources as the average person in western Europe, we would need THREE planets to support us.
One Planet Living is a vision of a world where we can live happily within our one Earth’s resources, and a simple framework designed to achieve just that.
The One Planet Living framework
Designed by Bioregional and developed with the WWF, the One Planet Living framework is made up of ten principles, aimed at helping organisations around the world to achieve their vision of a brighter, better future.
The University of York is 100% in support of this and is a member of One Planet York.
One Planet Week
We created One Planet Week to advocate a more sustainable way of life to staff and students - reducing our impact on the planet. Each year a One Planet Living principle is chosen as a theme for the week, which events, competitions, and campaigns are centred around.
One planet week runs every year during week 6 of spring term. In support of Climate Action, the theme for 2020 is Culture and Community. Check out the One Planet Week page for activities, events and workshops to come along to and get involved with. There's even free food!
