Operations Group

Operations Group is a sub-group of the University Executive Board, set up to help focus and support its work. It comprises senior managers from the support, administrative and operations areas of the University.

Its role is to help identify important topics for discussion at Board meetings and to take decisions on less significant operational issues. It might also be asked to consider matters emerging from Board discussions which require further investigation and action.

Operations Group meets monthly and the minutes from its meetings are submitted to the Board for information.

Terms of reference

  • Takes devolved responsibility for co-ordinating the University’s central support departments
  • Ensures that the support services work effectively together
  • Ensures that the support departments remain focused on providing the highest possible quality of service to academic staff, students and other stakeholders
  • Monitors the budgets of the support services on a monthly basis
  • Ensures that the support services remain focused on helping to implement the University Plan
  • Monitors against the agreed annual objectives for each service
  • Provides a forum for sharing information, discussing issues of common interest and addressing issues that run across two or more support services
  • Communicates on a regular basis with heads of academic departments and works to enhance lines of communication between central support departments and academic departments
