I have overall responsibility for ensuring that our students have an intellectually stimulating, relevant and well supported teaching and learning experience. I also have responsibility for the development of online teaching.
I have a multi-disciplinary background with over 15 years’ experience of conducting research into the pathogenesis of cancer in both adults and children, coupled with the design and implementation of cross-disciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. My focus has been very much targeted at the development of innovative novel provision, and towards creating a thriving, supportive and dynamic community to enable all to succeed. I have held a number of senior leadership roles within the University, including latterly, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching, Learning and Students where I played a particularly strong role in the development of postgraduate education and the adoption of online learning through an innovative collaboration with Higher Education Partners. I became the new PVC for Teaching, Learning and Students at the University of York from October 2020 playing a key role in developing the new University Strategy that positions my portfolio in the context of dynamic, flexible education for students from all backgrounds, the development and expansion of programmes of learning with a strong focus on public benefit, diversification, employability, internationalism and widening participation, access and progression.
