Jo Horsburgh

Registrar and Secretary



Jo joined the University of York as Registrar and Secretary in June 2017, with accountability for leading the University’s Professional and Commercial Services and also as Secretary to Council. 


Biography in Brief

Previously Jo was a senior officer at the University of Warwick; her roles there included Director of HR, Deputy Registrar and latterly reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and President as Strategy Director.

In her earlier career, Jo spent nine years as a senior HR professional in the automotive industry, working in the manufacturing, engineering and international HR divisions of a major car manufacturer, followed by a role as a management consultant for Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, leading people and change management streams in large-scale transformation projects for blue chip and FTSE 100 clients.

Jo is a graduate in Management Studies from Cambridge University and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
