I am responsible for the strategic direction and operational oversight of Corporate and Information Services, which includes the departments:
I studied Psychology and Management Studies at the University of Glasgow. After graduating in 1994, I became a researcher for the Glasgow-based Human Communications Research Centre, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, and worked there until 1997.
Following the birth of my second child in 1998 I moved into an academic role in the Medical School at the University of Glasgow. To my surprise, I loved the change from researcher to a supporter of research. In 2003, following a move to the University of St Andrews, I became the Director of Business Improvements, a new support department whose purpose was to use technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
I joined the University of York as Head of IT Services in 2012 and took up my role as Director of Information Services in 2015 overseeing Library, Archives and IT Services. In 2018 my portfolio was expanded to include all of the current departments within Corporate and Information Services.
Oct 2012 to present: Member of UCAS Council. The Council represents UCAS' customers and other key stakeholders, and advises the Board of Trustees.
Dec 2017 to present: Trustee of the University of York Pension Scheme.
