Code of Practice on Harassment
The Code of Practice on Harassment sets out the University of York's commitment to the creation of a fair, welcoming and inclusive environment where harassment is unacceptable and where members of its community treat each other with dignity and respect.
There is an expectation that every effort will be made to resolve any complaints of harassment through informal procedures. The Code of Practice on Harassment describes the range of options which are available and explains the sources of support which can be accessed.
There are two distinct codes which should be followed, one for staff and one for students. We provide guidelines for both.
- Procedure for Staff - this procedure applies to staff alleging harassment against other staff, students or visitors.
- Guidelines for Staff Procedure - to be read in conjunction with the Procedure for Staff.
- Procedure for Students - this procedure applies to students alleging harassment against other students, staff or visitors.
- Guidelines for Student Procedure - to be read in conjunction with the Procedure for Students.
If you think you have experienced harassment there are a number of options available to you to try to resolve this informally. For further information, please see our Quick Guides.
