Climate Change & Green Energy

The environment is continuously changing but human pressures have accelerated these changes, especially in the context of global climate change. The need to rethink the way we generate and use energy is one of the most pressing issues worldwide. To understand climate change and its implications, to address the energy gap, and to work towards building a framework for society to develop more sustainably in the future, our research focuses on:

    • Climate change impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems
    • Atmospheric pollution
    • Atmosphere-ocean interactions
    • Carbon sequestration in soils
    • Design of biofuels and managing impacts from bioenergy
    • Advanced technologies including nuclear fusion
    • Sustainable technologies for waste utilisation
    • Economics and governance of carbon trading
    • Low carbon urban development
    • Closed loop manufacturing
