Full Week Discount
Those children who have a full-time booking for the whole of the invoice period are given a discount of 5% per week based on the rate at which fees are normally charged.
Deposit
A deposit will be required once you have been offered a place. This will be deducted once the place is taken up, but is non-refundable if the place is cancelled.
Payment Information
Cheques should be made payable to the 'University of York'. Payment dates are clearly stated on the invoices. Late payments automatically attract a £25 late payment fee. Nursery Extra payments are taken directly from the salary at the end of the month. Cash or card payments can also be made directly to the Finance Services Cash Office located in Market Square, Tel: 01904 322117.
Absence
In the event of absence, your child's place will be reserved but fees are not refundable. In exceptional circumstances, the Nursery Management would consider a fee reduction for prolonged absence due to serious illness.
Extra Sessions
Please ask if you require any extra sessions or one-off bookings. Once booked four weeks' notice is required to cancel any extra sessions.
Notice
If, for any reason, you need to withdraw your child from the Nursery, four weeks' notice is required.
Queries
The Nursery Administrator is available in the office Monday - Friday 9.00 am to 1.00 pm to accept payment of fees, alter bookings and to discuss any queries you may have.
Access to Learning Fund (Formerly the Hardship Fund)
The government gives the University of York money called the Access to Learning Fund (A.L.F.) every year to help students who need extra financial support because they have higher than expected costs. The government asks the University to treat students with children (especially lone parents) as a priority group with financial help being able to be given towards course related costs such as childcare. To be eligible to apply you must be classified as a 'home' student and meet certain residence requirements. Application forms and further information can be obtained from: Student Financial Support Unit (S.F.S.U.), Sally Baldwin Buildings, B Block or tel: (01904) 32 (4043) or email: student-financial-support@york.ac.uk
International Students Hardship Fund
The University has a small fund to assist International and E.U. students whose financial support has suddenly been reduced either for political reasons or personal misfortune. Students with children are a priority group for help. Application forms and further information are available as above.
Other Help
The University's Welfare Advisor can assist students with benefit and general money advice and can be contacted by e-mail: welfare-info@york.ac.uk or tele: (01904) 32 (4143) or (01904) 32 (4140). The Welfare Advisor is based along with the S.F.S.U. and other Student Support Services staff in Sally Baldwin Buildings, B Block.
The Nursery is registered with the City of York Council to receive the free Early Years entitlement available to eligible three and four year olds. A requirement of the scheme is that all registered nurseries are inspected by Ofsted to ensure standards of education provision are met. A copy of the latest inspection report can be made available on request or are available from the web (Ofsted). Please note that funding is received for the academic year only ie Autumn, Spring and Summer Terms (not paid in July & August).
