Campus life is enriched by people who belong to all the great world faiths and other religious groups. Below you will find contact details for many of these.

Buddhism

For information on Buddhism in the York area please contact the Madhyamaka Buddhist Centre on (01759) 304832 - there is someone to answer the phone every afternoon.

Hinduism

Islam

The Mosque is in Bull Lane across the Hull Road, quite close to campus. The Imam there is Zubair Ahmed, and the Mosque welcomes students from the University. Dr. El-Gomati from the Electronics Dept. is glad to meet Muslim students. Tel: (01904) (43)2343 or email mmg@ohm.york.ac.uk.

Judaism

The nearest synagogue is in Leeds, where the Orthodox Chaplain to Jewish students across the Yorkshire area is based. The Reformed Chaplain, Rabbi Fox, is based in Manchester: (0161) 434 6464 / (0161) 428 7746
