Where to Find Us
During the week Tony and Rory can most often be found on
campus using different university venues (details are published
every week in our emails).
Feel free to drop by for a coffee or other suitable beverage - we'll pay!
We are also happy to see students individually - an email or call to one of our
mobiles is a good way to make contact.
Other places where things happen are:
Heslington Church
Heslington Church (or 'Hes', as it's popularly known) serves the University and the village of Heslington. However, Heslington Church is no ordinary church! Not only is it an excellent venue (including a kitchen, library, rooms for meeting in and a lounge for, well, lounging in...), but Heslington Church is also what's known as a Local Ecumenical Partnership. Anglicans and Methodists joined forces some years ago and now share all work and worship in common. Rory is based here and is the Methodist Minister. There is a church-sharing agreement between Hes. Church and the Roman Catholic Chaplaincy.
All staff and students at the University are welcome to use Heslington Church (it's often used for meetings, music practice and socials). If the church is locked, come and get a key from one of the full-time Chaplains.
More House

Whilst More House on Heslington Lane is the centre for Catholic Chaplaincy work at the University it is also used by several student and different ecumenical Chaplaincy groups on a regular basis and is open to any member of the University. It is also the home to the Catholic Chaplain and the first community of Carmelite Friars (www.carmelite.org) in York since the Reformation.
You will find More House on Heslington Lane. If you come to the end of Spring Lane (the lane going from campus to Heslington Lane) and look across the road to your right you'll see it. More House is the house with a red door and a wooden fence).
More House is literally an open house for all who want to use it: the door is open - no door bell to ring. Nobody will ask you for your Catholic identity card as you come through the door. The house has a comfortable sitting room, library and a kitchen with tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits available for free! We also have a beautiful back garden which is a great place to relax in the summer term.
The house has a small prayerful chapel where Mass is celebrated at 5.30pm Monday-Friday - excluding Wednesday - during term time. On Wednesdays there is a shared Ecumenical Service at 12.30pm followed by bread and soup.
Flipchart, data projector and screen are available on request.
