  • We have two post production labs, one for undergraduates and one for postgraduates. Both are connected to a 65TB XSAN system to provide media streaming and tapeless asset management. Both feature Final Cut Pro Studio, After Effects, Photoshop, Pro Tools, Logic Pro and numerous other industry standard packages. The PG lab also features Nuke and Shake for visual effects, BouJou for matchmoving and Maya for 3D graphic work. The UG lab features 24 workstations capable of streaming two 720p DVCPro HD streams to each workstation concurrently; the PG lab features 18 workstations capable of streaming three 1080p DVCPro HD streams to each workstation concurrently. All machines on the XSAN can be configured as a render farm to enable fast distributed rendering of animations.
  • We have a range of picture finishing kit including Smoke, Flame, Lustre and a Nucoda Film Master.
  • We have four dubbing/recording suites, two adjoining a "live" room that can be used as a recording studio.

  • We also have a Foley/ADR suite for recording sound effects and replacement dialogue. (ADR is Automated Dialogue Replacement, where the speech recorded on location can be replaced by the actor saying the lines again in the studio; Foleys are live sound effects that have to exactly match the picture, such as footsteps and clothes rustle).
