Term structure and dates

The academic year at York is split into three terms of 10 weeks each.

Visiting Students can come to York for one, two or three terms. For one term students, it is possible to start in October or January. Two term students can study from September/October-March or January-June. Full-year students are at York from September/October-June.

2014/2015

  • Autumn Term: 29 September 2014 - 5 December 2015
  • Spring Term: 5 January 2015 - 13 March 2015
  • Summer Term: 13 April 2015 - 19 June 2015 

Accommodation is usually available from the Sunday before the start of term.

2015/2016

  • Autumn Term: 28 September 2015 - 4 December 2015
  • Spring Term: 4 January 2016 - 11 March 2016
  • Summer Term: 11 April 2016 - 17 June 2016 

Accommodation is usually available from the Sunday before the start of term.

2016/2017

  • Autumn Term: 3 October 2016 - 9 December 2016
  • Spring Term: 8 January 2017 - 16 March 2017
  • Summer Term: 18 April 2017 - 22 June 2013 

Accommodation is usually available from the Sunday before the start of term.

In the first week we had a lot of informational meetings to get to know the University as well as our supervisors and the contact person in the International Office. This was really helpful because it was clear, that if any problem occurred, there would be someone to help, which is especially useful if one is from a different country.
