Computing facilities and training

IT Services provides over 600 open access machines. Network access points across campus enable laptop users to connect their machines to the network to browse the web and check e-mail. Network Access Service is available in all study bedrooms and the service charge is included in your room rent. Software provision ranges from standard office applications - such as wordprocessing, spreadsheets and presentations - through specialist statistical, mathematical, geographic information systems and graphics packages to applications development environments for those who need to create their own software.

IT training

Training courses are available to improve your skills and future employability

Throughout your time at the University and beyond, IT skills will be crucial. That is why we provide special training free of charge in computing skills with the Student IT Training programme.

The programme comprises two strands: IT for Higher Study and  IT for the Workplace.

All IT for the Workplace courses are assessed and you will receive a certificate for each assignment that you successfully complete, and if you are participating in the York Award, you will accrue points towards it.
