Funding opportunities 2011/12

Applications to the Rapid Response Fund for 2012/13 are now closed.  If you are in urgent need of funding for a project which would fall under the RRF's remit, please contact Alice Wakely: ext 2018.

'Rapid Response' Grants (up to £2000)

These grants are to support small-scale short-term projects, initiatives or purchases to enhance the quality of learning and teaching by addressing a clearly-identified need or issue. Funding is limited, and grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis; please also note that departments in a stronger financial position may be asked to fund initiatives from their own resources.

Applications may be submitted electronically at any time, and decisions will be made within two weeks by a small panel led by Trevor Sheldon.

Strategic learning and teaching project grants

In 2011/12 a number of larger scale strategic Learning and Teaching projects are running, in response to last year's call for:

  • Quality improvement projects, tackling major learning and teaching issues within or across departments
  • Collaborative projects between departments to take forward key themes from the Learning and Teaching Strategy
  • Initiatives to reconfigure undergraduate programmes in preparation for the introduction of higher student fees in 2012/13

The scheme is designed to foster big ideas that will really make a difference and contribute towards a consistent culture of quality across the University.

We are not formally inviting bids this year; however, if you have an idea for a project of this nature, please contact Nigel Dandy (nigel.dandy@york.ac.uk) in the first instance.
