Research Mobility Programme

The Research Mobility Programme (RMP) provides funding for research visits to Worldwide University Network (WUN) partner universities and is open to postgraduate research students, post-docs and academic members of staff.

RMP aims to support the development of international networks and longer term research links with WUN partners. It is also intended to encourage the personal and academic development of individuals.

Applications are welcome from all academic areas. Priority is given to well defined proposals which aim to create new international research links or build on existing ones and which demonstrate a clear potential to contribute to a department’s strategic international ambitions.

The next deadline for applications to the fund is Friday 11 November 2011.

What the Fund will cover

Awards are worth up to a maximum of £2,500 and cover economy air travel, including visa, accommodation and subsistence costs.

Under the scheme the bench fees are waived therefore research expenses are not normally available. If expensive materials are required host institutions sometimes charge for this, and you may be able to get an extra sum towards this. It is your responsibility to establish if this is the case before completing your application and if so, you must provide written proof with your application.

  • The maximum length of a visit is 6 months.
  • The average student visit lasts for 2-3 months.
  • Staff visits tend to be shorter - from a couple of days to a month.
  • Very clear reasons must be shown for longer visits.

York staff and students can visit all WUN partners under this scheme except for other UK WUN partners.
