Impact
In order to better demonstrate the benefits of our research to the economy, society, culture and quality of life the government and the research councils have recently added new measurements of the outcomes of research.
This new measure assesses the impact that this piece of research has had beyond academia; focusing on areas such as:
- policy development
- providing skilled workers for industry
- public engagement with research
- creation of new businesses or technologies
- outreach programmes
A full list of possible impact activities is being developed. York has been involved in a pilot of this new assessment method and will advise staff on the best practice methods on completion of this assessment period.
