For new students coming to study social work at York, we strongly recommend completing a Shadowing Day before you arrive. Students from other universities may also find this information useful.
First-hand experience is an essential part of social work students' degree programmes. The Department works in collaboration with a number of social work service providers to offer this experience to students.
If you interested in becoming a practice teacher, or are returning to practice teaching and would like a refresher to develop your role as a practice teacher, you will be interested in our workshops on Enabling and Assessing Practice Competence in Social Work and Social Care.
