Application process

  1. Register for an applicant account.  Please remember to make a note of the username and password which you choose.

  2. Basic personal details.  Please complete all necessary sections.

There is an option to upload your Evidence of Funding at this stage.  If you are able to do this now it will save time later but it is not compulsory.  The documents we are able to accept are either:

    a) A scanned recent bank statement or letter from your bank showing that you have sufficient funds available to pay for the Certificate stage.

    b) If you have employer/sponsor funding, a letter (signed and on headed paper) from your employer/sponsor confirming the level of their contribution

  3. Addresses  Please complete your Home Address.  Also, add a Contact address if you have an alternative postal address - it is very important that this is kept up-to-date.

  4. Education  Please complete your school and University records.  There is no requirement to upload a transcript at this stage.

  5. Employment  Please detail your current employment first and then click the option to add earlier experience as necessary.  It is not necessary to upload a CV to the applicaion form.

  6. English Language  If you have noted that English is not your first language within your Personal Details this section will appear.  If you have a valid language certificate please select the relelvant scheme from the drop down menu and complete your results.  If you do not have a current certificate please detail your language experience in the comments box provided.

  7. Personal Statement A link is provided to our template.  Please answer the 3 questions and confirm that you meet the stated Requirements of Study.

  8. Referees  You will need to provide two referees. Your referees will need to comment on your suitability for the programme, and also (if possible), comment on your capacity to cope with the academic demands of the course.  For this programme it is not necessary to provide academic references and ideally one referee will be your line manager/employer.

Please include your referee email addresses here as this will allow us to send them an automated email so that they can upload a reference directly to your application. These emails will be sent immediately that you submit your application.  Please advise your referee to expect this email and ask them to respond as quickly as possible.

  9. Equal opportunities monitoring and disabilities form  Please complete all questions on this form and particularly note the information about disability support.  If you feel that you will require support it is important that we work together to put this in place as early as possible.

If you have any questions about the programme, please email a member of the course team on spsw-online@york.ac.uk .

If you experience a technical problem, or have any queries about the online applications process generally, please email: pg-admissions@york.ac.uk.
