Congratulations and best wishes for the future to our students graduating today
The Department sees a number of students graduating today from our postgraduate programmes as part of the University of York's January Graduation Days.
We are delighted to see four of our PhD candidates graduating today:
- Sarah Hards: Sarah's PhD looked at the role of individual action on climate change and now works as a Research Associate on the 'Reducing Energy Consumption through Community Knowledge Networks' (RECCKN) project.
- Daniel Horsfall: Dan's PhD focused on analysis of the competition state thesis. Dan is now a teaching fellow in comparative social policy within the Department.
- Gina Teddy: Gina's work focuses on the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme in Ghana, her Phd incorporating economic, policy and sociological aspects of health financing.
- Wei Lu: Wei's thesis looked at the role of the third sector in campaigns to address UK child poverty.
35 students will be graduating from the Online Masters Programmes in Public Policy and Management, a suite of programmes designed for managers in the public sector and delivered wholly online. Many of these students will be based in public services in the UK or in government, aid agencies and NGOs around the world.
31 students will be graduating from our campus-based taught postgraduate courses, with some now continuing their studies as PhD candidates in the Department.
The ceremony is at 3.30pm on 20th January 2012. The Department warmly welcomes graduating students and their guests to a reception in Cafe Barista at 4.30pm.
