The Department of Sociology welcomes students from all over the world. Overseas students who come to York for undergraduate or postgraduate study are given University and departmental support to help adjust to academic and social changes.
Every student has an academic supervisor who can offer guidance academic and personal. Graduate research students have a thesis advisory panel (TAP) which monitors and supports the relationship between student and supervisor.

Single students from outside the EU are currently provided with accommodation for the duration of their full-time course, provided they apply before the end of August. All graduate accommodation is fully furnished and centrally heated; most are self-catering flats with ensuite facilities.
